 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR ENTRANCE TEST

 

The candidate has to register for appearing B.Ed. Admission Entrance Test on University portal www.braouonline.in only. Commencement of Payment and Submission of Online Application Forms from 22-01-2024. Registration fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) and S.C.,/S.T/PWD candidates may pay Rs. 750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and fifty only) through online on or before 21-02-2024. With a late fee of Rs. 500/- applications can be submitted on or before 26-02-2024.

 

Note: The Candidates who have completed their Under Graduation / Post Graduation on or before July, 2023 are eligible for Admission and appear for Entrance Test.

            2. Fill the application form ON-LINE based on your certificates/documents. (Please verify Model Online Application form and instructions to fill the application ON-LINE in the University portal).
            3. If any wrong information is provided in the application form, it is the responsibility of the applicant only.
            4. After submitting the form, take a print out and pay the registration fee mentioning the reference number of the application.
            5. Registration fee 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) and S.C./S.T/PWD candidate may pay Rs. 750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and fifty only) through online. Please obtain receipt for the payment of the fee.
            6. If the candidate fails to pay registration fee and submit the application in time, He /She must pay a late fee of 500/- till 26-02-2024.
            7. Please keep the printed Application Form and Fee receipt carefully with you for further reference and for submission at the time of Certificates
            8. Make a note that the process of registration to appear for Entrance Test will be possible only after the payment of Registration Fee.
            9. Physical submission of Application is not required.

            Eligibility

            1.The candidate should be an Indian citizen.

            2.Candidates should have passed with at least 50% of marks in B.A./ B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.C.A./B.Sc. (Home Science)/ BBM/BBA/ B.E/B.Tech.

            3.The candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/PWD should have secured a minimum of 40%marks in the qualifying examination.

            3. The students who wish to take admission in B.Ed. with B.E/      B.Tech     must have Science/Mathematics as one of the subjects.

            4. B.C.A. candidate must pass Intermediate with concern subjects to opt the Methodology.

            5. The Candidates who h a v e completed (passed) the qualifying examination On or before July,2023 are eligible.

            6. The candidate who do not have required percentage of marks in Undergraduate, the marks secured in Post-Graduation will be considered (If he/she studied relevant subject at PG)

            07. The following categories are eligible to seek admission into B.Ed. (ODL):

            (i) Trained in-Service teachers in elementary education and

            (ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to face mode.

            08.The reservations for SC/ST/BC/PWD categories shall be as per the rules in vogue

             9. EWS quota seats will be allotted to the eligible candidates on production of the relevant certificates/documents.

            10.  PH, Sports, NCC and CAP quota seats will be allotted to the eligible candidates on production of the relevant certificates/documents.

            11. Candidate should have completed 21 years as on 1st July 2023. There shall be no upperage limit.

            Note:

            i.  As per the GOMS No: 92 and GOMS NO.13, the candidates who passed MBBS/BDS/BPT/BAMS/BL/LLB/B.Pharm/BHMT/BVSC/B.Sc.(AG)/B.A.(La nguages)/BOL etc. and other such Professional and Job Oriented courses are noteligible for admission into B.Ed. Programme.

            ii. Diploma in ECE/ PSE, and other Pre-Primary Teacher    Training Certificate/Diploma (PPTTC) completed candidates are not eligible for admission into B.Ed. (ODL) Programme.

            Syllabus for Entrance Test

            The Entrance Test Question Paper will have 3 parts for 100 Marks with 100 Objective type (Multiple Choice) questions.

            Part-I: General English Comprehension (25 Marks)

            Part-II: Proficiency in Telugu (25 Marks)

            Part-III: General Mental Ability (50 Marks)

            Mode of Entrance Test

            Entrance Test will be conducted Online [Computer Based Test (CBT) mode]. (Entrance Test will be conducted in Telugu (Medium) only)

            Examination Centres. The University reserves the right to allot candidates to any other Entrance Test Centre(s) other than their choice in unavoidable circumstances.

             

            INTRODUCTION

             

            The University, initially known as Andhra Pradesh Open University (APOU), was set up on 26th August, 1982 through an Act of the A.P. State Legislature (APOU Act 1982). Subsequently, the University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (Dr.BRAOU) on 26th October 1991 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The establishment of this University, the first of its kind in India, heralded an era of affirmative action on the part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide opportunities of Higher Education to all sections of society to meet the changing individual and social needs. Even after bifurcation of the State the University has been extending Higher Education opportunities to Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh. States The University offers Under Graduate/ Post Graduate / P.G. Diplomas / Certificate Programmes / Research programmes in various disciplines. All the programmes offered by the University are recognized by Distance Education Bureau (DEB), New Delhi.

             

            DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

             

            The Faculty of Education was set up in November 2004 with the Department of Education. The Department has been offering B.Ed. ODL Programme, Recognised by UGC, Approved by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education), from 2008 in Telugu medium and B.Ed. Special Education ODL Programme in Telugu and English media, Recognised by UGC, Approved by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India), from the Academic Year 2009. The Certificate programme in Literacy and Community Development (CLCD) and Certificate Programme in Early Childhood Care and Education (CECE) were started in 2011.

             

            BACHELOR OF EDUCATION PROGRAMME [B.Ed.-ODL]

             

            The B.Ed. Programme offered by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) is an innovative one. The University issues Self-instructional material and Information Technology along with Interactive Personal Contact Programmes. It aims at developing understanding and competencies required by Practicing Teachers for effective teaching- learning process at the secondary stage. The Programme is essentially a judicious mix of theoretical and practical courses to develop the Practicing Teacher’s knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes. Illustrations and cases of relevant situations and need-based activities comprise the core of each course of the programme.

             

            OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

             

            The B.Ed. (ODL) Programme aims to enable practicing teachers to achieve the following objectives:

            1. To strengthen the professional competencies of trained in-service teachers in Elementary
            2. To develop an understanding of the various methods and approaches of organizing learning experiences for secondary school
            3. To understand the nature of the learning process and develop skills required in selecting and organizing learning experiences.
            4. To develop skills involved in dealing with the academic and personal problems of
            5. To develop skills in selection, development and usage of evaluation tools and to develop an understanding of the various techniques of evaluation in the
            6. To develop an understanding of various aspects of school management in organising various instructional and co-curricular
            DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
            • Minimum period to complete the programme is 2 Academic
            • Maximum period to complete the programme is 4 Academic
            • If any student unable to complete the programme with in Maximum period readmission will be given as per the University

            MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

             

            The medium of instruction is Telugu. A student should write the answers in Year- end- Examinations, Assignments and Records, Teaching Practice and Practical Lesson Records only in Telugu.

             

            TUITION FEE

             

            The Tuition fee is Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand only) for the entire programme of two years. The total Tuition fee has to be paid at the time of admission in a single payment through ONLINE. Examination Fee has to be paid as per the norms of the University.

             

            ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR FOR B.Ed. ENTRANCE TEST

             

            Candidate satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for the entrance test.

            1. The candidate should be an Indian
            2. Candidates should have passed with at least 50% of marks either A./ B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.C.A./B.Sc.(Home Science)/ BBM/BBA/ B.E/B.Tech.
            3. The candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/PWD should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
            4. The students who wish to take admissions in Ed. with B.E/B.Tech must have Science/Mathematics as one of the subjects.
            5. C.A. candidate must pass Intermediate with concern subjects to opt the Methodology.

            7. The candidate who have not secured required percentage of marks in Undergraduate, the marks secured in Post-Graduation will be considered (If he/she studied relevant subject at PG)
            8. Apart from the above, the candidates who fulfill the conditions as per NCTE-2014

            The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):

            • Trained in-service teachers in elementary education and
            • Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to face
            1. The reservation for SC/ST/BC/PWD categories shall be as per the rules in

            2. Diploma in ECE /PSE, and other Pre-Primary Teacher Training Certificate/Diploma (PPTTC) completed candidates are not eligible for admission into Ed. (ODL) Programme.
            ADMISSION PROCEDURE

            Admissions are made strictly on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test conducted by Dr. BRAOU. Only those candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria fixed by the University will be admitted. The candidate has to give web- option of his/her preference for allotment of programme centre at the time of admission.

            • The candidate is required to submit the application form through Online (braouonline.in) only. Candidate need not submit the hard copy.
            • Take a Printout of Online Application Form for your reference and to submit a copy at the time of Certificates

            MODE OF ENTRANCE TEST

            Online Entrance Test will be conducted. Candidates must appear Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. (Entrance Test will be conducted in Telugu Medium only)

            • The Entrance Test will be held on 05-03-2024 from 30 PM to 04.30 PM at selected Examination Centres of the University. Candidates are required to be present in the examination hall by one hour before the commencement of the Examination.

            RANKING

            Candidates will be ranked in the order of the merit in the B.Ed. entrance test. In case of candidates getting equal mark, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of tie the marks in Part-C and also the marks obtained in Part-B, then Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In the case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, age shall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the bracketed candidates. The rank obtained in B.Ed. Entrance Test is valid for entry into B.Ed. Programme for the Academic Year 2023-2024 only.


            Note:

            • The Qualifying marks in the Ed. Entrance Test for all candidates, except SC/ST, is 35. For candidates belonging to SC/ST communities there will be no qualifying marks for ranking.
            • Since it is a Online (Computer Based Test) Examination, Re-Counting and Re-Valuation are not required/entertained.

             ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE CHOICE OF PEDAGOGIES IN B.Ed. PROGRAMME


            (GOMS No. 92, Education Department, dated 16-11-2006 and GOMS No. 13 dated 27/05/2017 and the amendments thereafter).


            1. Mathematics: Candidate with A./B.Sc./B.E/B.Tech with Mathematics as one of the subjects, or B.C.A. candidates with Mathematics at Intermediate level as a group subject.
            2. Physical Sciences: Candidates with Sc. who have studied Physical Sciences (Physics or Chemistry) or Allied Material Sciences as group subjects or B.E/B.Tech./BCA candidates with Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) at Intermediate level as group subjects.
            3. Biological Sciences: Candidates with B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Home Science) who have studied Botany or Zoology or Allied Life Sciences under Part-II group subjects or B.C.A. candidates with Biological Sciences at Intermediate level as group subjects.
            4. Social Sciences: All candidates with B.A./B.Com./B.B.M. or B.C.A. candidates with Social Sciences at Intermediate level as group subjects.

            Note: The percentage of number of candidates to be admitted in each Pedagogy subject in the University shall be as follows:

            • Mathematics: 25% (b) Physical Sciences: 15%

            (c) Biological Sciences: 25%  (d) Social Sciences: 35%

            COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE TO WORKSHOPS

            University will allot 24 days in a year to conduct Workshops/Instructional Class/Personal Contact Programmes/Academic Counselling excluding School Based Activities, Micro Teaching, Teaching Practice, Internship and Final Practical Examinations. The Workshops and other Classes will be scheduled in different phases as per the requirement of the B.Ed. ODL Programme. The University has right to conduct the Workshops and other Classes at any time during the Programme/Year. 85% of Attendance during the Workshops and other Classes is compulsory.

             

            PROGRAMME CENTRES


            The Programme Centre is the contact point at the local level. The candidate has to select the programme centre that is convenient to him/her. The Programme Centres provide Audio-Visual equipment, Library and other facilities in all working days.

            1. There are 500 Seats in total in Ed. (ODL) Programme.
            2. The Maximum number of seats in each Ed. Program centre is 50.

            INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEM


            The University follows the instruction in regular workshops as well as the multimedia approach of instruction.


            The University follows the multimedia approach of instruction, which comprises:

            1. Self-instructional printed course material
            2. Assignments for assessment and feedback
            3. Audio-video programmes
            4. CDs
            5. Radio Lessons Broadcast
            6. Tele-Lessons through Doordarshan (DD-8) Sapthagiri
            7. Tele-conference with two-way audio and one way video through Doordarshan (DD-8)
            Workshops
            • Self-instructional Printed Material: The printed self-instructional study material for both theory and practical components of the programme will be supplied to the learners in the form of books for every
            • Audio-visual Material: The learning package contains audio and video cassettes, for better clarification and enhancement of understanding of the course material given to the A video programme is normally of 25-30 minutes duration. The audio and video cassettes may be listened to and screened at the Programme Centres respectively, during specific sessions, which are duly notified for the benefit of the learners.

            In addition to learning support at the Programme Centre, the video   programmes are telecast on National Network of Doordarshan. Selected stations of All India   Radio also broadcast the audio programmes. The information is provided through SMS only to the learners periodically.


            Teleconferencing: Live sessions are conducted via satellite through interactive Doordarshan

            Candidates are advised to download the Hall Tickets/Rank Cards/Model Call Letters from the University website www.braou.ac.in. Hall Tickets will be available in the University website four days prior to the Entrance Examination.


            The University is empowered to change any examination centre for any reason. Mere permission to appear for the Entrance Test cannot be considered as the eligibility for admission into B.Ed. Programme.
