Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural University (Dr.YSRHU), second of its kind in the country was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh on 26th June, 2007. This University is functioning with a mandate to develop Human Resources through Education, Research and Extension in Horticulture and Allied sectors and concentrating on Extension activities (Transfer of Technologies) through 42 institutes i.e., 4 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, 19 Horticultural Research Stations, 4 Colleges of Horticulture and 4 Horticultural Polytechnics for the benefit of farmers, Rural Youth and women directly and through Rythu Bharosa Kendras, District Resource Centres and Department of Horticulture, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Eligibility for admission:
The upper age limit is 40 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.
The Candidates seeking admission into any of the following Master’s Degree and Doctoral degree courses must have passed the relevant 4 years Bachelor’s Degree examination e., B.Sc. (Hort.) / B.Sc.(Hons.) Hortilculture specified against each course from the Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural Univeristy or from State Horticulture/Agriculture University (SAU) or Central Agricultural Univeristy (CAU). The candidates having Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ duration will not be considered for admission through ICAR AIEEA (PG)-2023.
For admission into Masters courses, in the qualifying examination, the candidates must have secured minimum OGPA of 6.60/10.00 (SC/ST –60/10.00) or 2.60/4.00 (SC/ST- 2.20/4.00) or 60% marks in traditioanl system (SC/ST – 50%).
For Ph.D admission, the minimum OGPA in the Masters Programme should be 6.50/10.00 from ICAR Accredited Universities.

Admission Procedure :
From the academic year 2023-24 onwards, the candidate, who qualified and secured rank in ICAR AIEEA(PG)-2023 and ICAR AICE JRF/SRF (Ph.D) – 2023 are eligible for admission into Masters Degree and Doctoral Degree respectively. The student applied for a subject group has to produce rank card in that subject group only.
In case of a tie, the candidates who secures more marks at previous qualification i.e., B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture or B.Sc.(Hort.) / M.Sc.(Hort.) shall be preferred.
For further tie breaking, date of birth shall be considered and older candidates shall be preferred.
The admission shall be on the basis of counselling for Masters Degree and Doctoral Degree Programme. The merit list of eligible candidates within the subject groups will be prepared and counselling will be conducted tentatively on 07-12-2023for M.Sc.(Hort.) & 08-12-2023for Ph.D.(Hort.). The candidates are advised to visit the website for regular updates. The counselling will be held at the Seminar Hall, College of Horticulture, Venkataramannagudem. The candidates has to attend counselling along with all original certificates and ICAR rank card. The selected candidates shall submit the necessary certificates in original, pay the prescribed fee and secure the admission at the allotted colleges. Failure to do so entails forfeiture of claim for seat.
Reservation of Seats:
(In accordance with the A.P Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974.)
After bifurcation of the A.P State, a new University for the Telangana State was formed as professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU). The total no. of seats approved for the combined University ANGRAU were divided in the ratio of 64% (42% for AU, 22% SVU) and 36% (for OU) for ANGRAU and PJTSAU, respectively duly following the provisions under the article 371D. Admission to 85% of the seats shall be reserved in favour of local candidates in relation to the local area in respect of the Andhra University and Sri Venkateswara University in the ratio of 42:22 respectively.
Among the seats allotted to respective states, the local seats (85%) will be filled by the respective Universities of the respective States through their admission procedure. The remaining 15% of unreserved seats of respective Universities will be filled in open competition.
Backward Classes: 29% of seats are reserved under this category.

Reservation of Seats for Women: 331/3 of the seats shall be reserved in favour of women candidates from each category.
Allocation of seats in favour of Local candidates in relation to Local area:
For the 85% local seats, the seats shall be allocated in 42 : 22 ratio in Andhra University and Sri Venkateswara University area, respectively among the candidates in relation to the local area.
Hostel facility : Hostel facility shall be provided subject to the availability of accommodation.

Local status certificate:
Candidate claiming local status in Andhra Pradesh (AU/SVU) by virtue of his/her migration from the State of Telangana shall submit scanned copy of Local status certificate issued by Tahsildar of concerned along with their application (as per G.O.Ms.No.171, General Administration (SPF & MC) Department, dated 20-11-2017). The format of local status certificate enclosed in Annexure V for information.
In the case of candidates who passed B.Sc.(Hort.) / B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture Degree etc., from Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural University only, the period of study prior to joining the University will be reckoned for determining the Local/Non-local status of the candidate.
Local Candidate:
1. A candidate for admission to any course of study shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation to a local area:
a) If he/she has studied in an educational institution(s) in such local area for a period of not less than four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared, or as the case may be, first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination:
OR
b) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, he has not studied in any educational institution, if he has resided in that local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared.
2. A candidate for admission to any course of study who is not regarded as a local candidate under sub-paragraph
(1) in relation to any local are shall:
a) If he/she has studied in educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate in relation to:
i) Such local area where he/she has studied for the maximum period out of the said period of seven years.
OR
ii) Where the periods of his/her study in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he/her has studied last in such equal periods.
b) If, during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, he/she has not studied in the educational institutions in any local area, but has resided in the State during the whole of the said period of seven years, be regarded as a local candidate in relation to:
OR
i) Such local area where he/she has resided for the maximum period out of the said period of seven years;
OR
ii) Where the periods of his/her residence in two or more local areas are equal, such local area where he/she has resided last in such equal periods.
Local Area:
The part of the State comprising the districts of East Godavari, Guntur, Kirshna, Prakasam Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri Seetharama Raju, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Konaseema, Rajahmundry, Narasapuram, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bpatla, Palnadu & West Godavari Districts shall be regarded as the local area in respect of the Andhra University area. The districts of Prakasam, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Satya Sai, Annamaiah, Chittoor, Sri Potti Sreeramulu Nellore and YSR Kadapa Districts shall be regarded as the local area in respect of Sri Venkateswara University area. All candidates belonging to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States will be considered against the 15% of the available seats left unreserved.

Criteria for Selection:
As per ICAR-AIEEA rules, the candidate who qualified and secured rank in ICAR AIEEA (PG)-2023 and ICAR AICE JRF/SRF (Ph.D) – 2023 are eligible for admission into Masters Degree and Ph.D Degree respectively.
- If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat before the closure of admissions for the academic year, an amount of Rs.2,500/- shall be collected towards seat cancellation fee for General and 1,250/- for SC/ST/PH as per the Proc.No.7297/Acad/30-ACM/Dean(PGS)/2023, dt: 21-09-2023. The remaining fees already paid during admission shall be refunded.
- If the admitted candidate cancel his/her seat after closure of admissions process in the academic year, the candidate forfeits the fee already paid and in addition, he/she has to pay an amount of 2,500/- towards seat cancellation fee for General (for SC/ST/PH – Rs.1,250/-) as per the Dr.YSRHU P.G. Regulations in vogue.

For the candidates applying under Outside State Quota the M.Sc.(Hort.) application fee for General & OBC category candidates is Rs.1,500!- (Rupees One thousand and five hundred only) and for SC!ST!PHC category candidates is Rs.750!- (Rupees Seven hundred and fifty only) respectively.
Application forms duly filled in all respects with relevant certificates together with Demand Draft (Original) should be sent to “The Registrar, Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural University, Administrative Office, Venkataramannagudem, Tadepalligudem- 534101, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh so as to reach on or before 24-11-2023 by 5.00 PM.
Applications received after due date will not be entertained. University will not be held responsible for any postal delay.
