HOT PONGAL Ingredients, Preparation Method As per Memo.No.ESE02-27021/132/2019-MDM-CSE Dt: 202224/02/2022 Hot Pongal & sambar and eggs in Friday menu with effect from 01/03/2022 instead of supplying Cooked white Rice and sambar.
Ingredients :
1. Rice - 1 cup (200 gms)
2. Green gram dhal - 1/2 cup (100 gms)
3. Water - 5 cups
4. Black Pepper - 2 tsp (5 gms)
5. Jeera - 3/4 tsp (5 gms)
6. Curry Leaves - 3 springs
7. Hing (Asafetida) - 1/8 tsp (1 pinch)
8. Grated ginger - 1 tsp
9. Ghee - 2 tsp
Preparation Method :
1. Dry roast green gram dhal till a nice flavor is obtained.
2. Wash rice, soak washed rice in water for 1/2 an hour.
3. Heat a heavy bottomed pan.
4. Add ghee, jeera, coarsely powdered black pepper, grated ginger, curry leaves and Hing, Stir well.
5. Add roasted green gram dhal and soaked rice, mix well.
6. Add 5 cups of water, mix well, cover with lid and allow to cook.
7. Cook until the rice is soft.
8. Mix well and serve hot.
