The attention of all the District Education Officers in the state is invited to the reference cited wherein they were requested to implement the innovation program in connection with quality initiative "Learn A Word A Day" with an objective of ensuring best vocabulary in English among the students from classes 1 to 10.
- In continuation of the orders issued in the reference cited the further action plan regarding "Learn A Word A Day" to be implemented from 16th March to 15th April 2022 is herewith annexed for effective implementation of the program.
- Further, the said program in intended to make use of the dictionaries provided in Jagananna Viday Kanuka for better vocabulary, pronunciation, and classroom transaction among students. In this regard specific guidelines have been issued for best usage of the dictionary while implementing the program to make the children habitual to the Dictionary.
- Therefore, all the District Educational Officers in the state are requested to communicate the action plan along with suggested guidelines of "Procedure of Uses of Dictionary" to all teachers and headmasters of all schools under all managements duly ensuring that the teachers shall make all students to find a word in dictionary with the help of above suggested

Procedure for Usage of Dictionary:
Dictionaries are organised alphabetically. Dictionary is a useful tool to improve your English language skills more personal and friendly. Dictionaries can also help your reading, writing and improve your vocabulary too.
Instructions to use dictionary:
Step 1: Find the word you want to look up Example: WISDOM
Step 2: Find the letter that the word begins with Example: ' W '
Step 3: Open the dictionary to the page with the relevant letter, in this case the letter' W '
Step 4: Now look at the second letter in the word you are looking for Example: ' I '
Step 5: Look at the letter after 'W', scan down till it is 'I' with the help of guide word on the top of each page of the dictionary. The guide word tells you what the first or lost word on that page of dictionary is
Step 6: Do the same process for the third, fourth, fifth and sixth letters and so on.
Step 7: Now that you have found your word 'WISDOM' and look at the different meaning and forms of the word.
It takes a little practice to find words quickly. The more you practice the better you will get at finding words fast.
