AP TET 2017 Rules, Guidelines, Qualifying Marks

O R D E R:

In the reference 1st read above, Govt. of India have enacted RTE Act, 2009 on 27.08.2009 titled “The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education”. In accordance with the provision of Sub-Section (1) of section 23 of the RTE Act, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi has laid down minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a Teacher for Classes I to VIII in its Principal Notification dated 23rd August, 2010 and amendments issued thereon. The minimum qualifications include a Pass in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Pursuant to the said Guidelines, it has been decided to conduct Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) at least once every year for all persons, who aspire to become Teachers for Classes I to VIII in all Schools (Govt. / ZP / MP / Municipal /Recognized Pvt. Aided & Pvt. Un-Aided etc.,) in the State of Andhra Pradesh.


2.         As per NCTE guidelines para (1) clearance of TET is mandatory for all those aspiring to be Teachers in Private or Government Managed Schools this is to ensure National Standards and benchmark of Teacher quality in the recruitment process.
3.         In the reference 10th read above, the orders were issued for conduct of   Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) cum Teachers Recruitment Test for the Posts of teachers.  However based on the proposal submitted in the reference 13th read above by the Commissioner of School Education, A.P, Amaravati for conducting Computer Based Test (CBT) for Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, Government has decided to conduct APTET exam.

4.         In the reference 11th read above, Government have permitted the A.P.Public Service Commission to introduce the system of computer based examinations in the State of Andhra Pradesh and also accorded administrative sanction for entering Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with A.P. Online basing on the rates fixed.

5.         In the reference 12th read above, the Government permitted the A.P. State Council of Higher Education to introduce the Computer Based Test for conducting of APCETs from 2017 onwards and also accorded administrative sanction for entering Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TCS.

6.         Government after careful examination of the proposals of the Commissioner of School Education, Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati hereby issue the following Guidelines/ Instructions for conduct of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) as Computer Based Test(CBT) in supersession of the guidelines issued earlier in this regard.

                     7.         The following guidelines shall be followed for conduct of APTET:-


1.         ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES FOR APPEARING AP-TET:

The candidates at the time of applying for AP-TET should be in possession of the following minimum qualifications prescribed for category of I to V classes (Paper- I) and VI to VIII classes (Paper - II) separately.

2.         MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR AP - TET PAPER - I (CLASSES I TO V):


a)         Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. However in case of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 45%. AND pass in 2 - year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2 - year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

b)         Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks. In respect of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 40%. AND pass in 2 - year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education.
  (B.El.Ed.) / 2 - year Diploma in Education (Special Education) in case of the candidates, who have passed or admitted to D.El.Ed / D.Ed., course prior to issue of these guidelines.

3.         MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR AP-TET PAPER - II (CLASSES VI TO VIII):

a)                  B.A./B.Sc./B.Com., with at least 50% marks. In case of SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 45%. AND pass in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed -Special Education).

b)                  B.A./B.Sc./B.Com., with at least 50% marks. In respect of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 40%. AND pass in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed -Special Education) in case of the candidates, who have passed or admitted to B.Ed., course prior to issue of these guidelines.

c)                  4-year B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed., with at least 50% marks, in case of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 45%.

d)                  Graduation with Language concerned as one of the Optional Subjects (OR) Bachelor of Oriental Language (or its equivalent) (OR) Graduation in Literature (OR) Post Graduation in Language concerned AND Language Pandit Training Certificate/ B.Ed with Language concerned as one of the Methodologies, in respect of Language Teachers.

Note:- 1. The candidates, who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor of Education (OR) Diploma in Elementary Education etc., are also eligible to appear for TET exam subject to the condition that the candidates cannot appear for DSC with this TET certificate, unless the candidates acquire requisite qualification.


2.         A Diploma/ Degree course in Teacher Education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.

3.         Intermediate qualification of Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) of Andhra Pradesh State or its equivalent as recognized by BIE, Andhra Pradesh State only shall be considered. So also the Bachelor’s Degree of a University Recognized by UGC only shall be considered.

6. QUALIFYING MARKS IN TET, ISSUE OF MEMOs/ CERTIFICATES AND THEIR VALIDITY:

(a) The qualifying marks for different categories are as shown below:

9. EXEMPTION FROM PASSING TET:

Teachers who were appointed before NCTE notification dt:23.08.2010 by the Competent Authority in Govt./ Local Authority as per Recruitment Rules prevalent at that time are exempted from appearing for TET. However, Teachers working in Private Schools whose appointments were not approved by the Competent Authority are not exempted from passing TET. Such Teachers of Private Unaided Schools shall appear for TET conducted by either the State Government or Central Government. In respect of non approved Teachers working in Private Aided Schools, they shall invariably appear for TET conducted by the State Government only.
