VITM, Bangalore has informed that, the Annual event Southern India Science Drama Festival will be organised at Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore during the first week of November 2017. The main theme for National Science Drama Festival is "Science & Society".
The Sub themcs are as follows:
I) Swachh Bharat: Role of Science & technology
2) Cleansing of Rivers
3) Digital India
4) Green energy
The District Educational Officers are therefore requested to complete the District Level

Further, they arc informed that, the State Level Science Drama Competitions 2017 will be
organized on 16.10.2017 & 17.10.2017 aftcr complction of divisional level, District Level
Competitions etc.
GUIDELINES OF SCIENCE DRAMA
I. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The competition is open to school students of VIII, IX & X standard only.
II. THE THEME OF THE PLAY for NSDF:
Main-theme:Science & Society
Sub themes
1.Swachh Bharat: Role of Science & Technology
2. Cleaning of Rivers
3.Digital India
4. Green Energy
The drama script must be based on any of the above topics and should convey science message
in focused way.
III. WHILE WRITING THE SCRIPT THE FOLLOWING POINTS SHOULD ALSO BE KEPT IN MIND
• The drama should not be an academic exercise and uninteresting. It should convey emotional,
as well as aesthetic experience to the performers and also to the audillnce.
• It should totally engage the audience and convey educational message. The performers and
the audience should feel happy that they have understoodllearnt something.
• While writing the script, care should be taken regarding the setting, duration of the play and
also the number of actors taking part in the drama.
IV. OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION
• Duration of the play should not be more than 30 minutes.
• There should not be more than 8 characters In the team (as a team for easy mobility).
• It should convey scientific message related to the theme as mentioned above.
• The drama team should be able to set-up props and other necessary requirements to stage
within 5 mts.
• The language should be easy to follow (more of visuals preferred).
• The drama may be in any Indian languages (official).
• The drama may have costumes, dance, music, mime and also models to enhance the interest
and credibility of the drama.
• Written poster I banner I Audio-Visual Aids can also be used for illustration.
• The participating school has to submit an authentic Hindi I English translation of the script
to the organizers well before staging the drama.
• Education Dept. of each State has to select Top Two Best Dramas from their State level
Contest and nominate for the Southern India Science Drama Festival to be held at VITM.
V. JUDGMENT (100 MARKS)
• Scientific content in the Drama - 30 Marks
• Presentation of the Drama - 50 Marks
• Effectiveness of the Drama - 20 Marks
VI. Prizes may be awarded in cash or any kind as detailed below in the Southern India Science
Drama Festival. Depending on the performance of the Drama, the panel of Judges mayor may
not recommend individual prizes.
Best Play - First, Second & Third prizes will be awarded based on the overall performance by the
team members). FIRST two prize winning dramas of SISDF-2017 will participate in the National Science Drama Festival-2017 to be held in January at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai.
